community bound and determined to shoot two dogs, thoughts? ideas?

Question by Ibizan Hound: community bound and determined to shoot two dogs, thoughts? ideas?
right i came home from my 70 acres to visit with my parents for the week and do some family events.

i was also told upon my arrival that two dogs were running wild attacking people and their pets!

the dogs were identified as a yellow lab and a black lab.

they called the pound after the first attack occurd BUT because we do not techincally live in the city limits the pound refuses to help them the police have asked that the community shoot on site.

the police will not as that is not their field and they would not be allowed to carry two dead dogs in their police car.

i also learned my mom and dad had their own close call with these two dogs. 6 am there dogs were barking my dad went outside to check it out and was attacked.

he kicked one dog after it tore into his leg and scaled our fence with the other hanging on. he could not see the dogs through the fence as we do live in a wooded area and we have roses growing on portions of the fence.

then a friend down the rode was letting his female malamute out the two suddenly appeared and he tried to bring the girl back in but they knocked him over (hes an older man) and attacked her, he got up and ran inside got his gun and shot at one of the two dogs and believes managed to hit one in the hind in with buckshot.

these dogs ive seen while driving look physically healthy and well fed and clean why would their owners allow them to roam like this?

some ideas on how to trap the two?

what are your thoughts on this entire situation?

my dad tried a hog trap but they werent interested in the meat he left to lure them in and instead attacked his chickens in the coop (ripped the wire)
my dad received rabies shots, the malamute is beaten up pretty bad they tore her ear…the owner is desperate to have the two dogs killed and tested for rabies
ASPCA refused
exterminators refuse to kill dogs works only with bugs and small mammals they refuse to even get rid of coyotes when they are showing signs of rabies
launi: yes actually my dad is planing to have me, him and my brother armed with our rifles at all times and if we see them hes asked us to shoot. i was just hoping to avoid it. shooting a deer is one thing, ill eat the deer. i wont eat the dog

If a dog attacts, you have every legal right to shoot them. Trapping them would be very hard. The only thing I could suggest is talking to an exterminator and seeing if there’s something he can do. This will cost you though. He might be able to trap them and take them to the pound or humane society. Do you have a local ASPCA? Call them. Good luck.
