Some of the leaves are getting yellow and the buds don’t open — they hang over and the stem is black where it joins the bud.

Hey Janice,

With questions like this it helps to be interactive, but we are not. So, I have to offer several possibile solutions: Water too much; Water too little; not enough light; humidity too dry; Drainage not good;

So each of these statements needs to be explored by you. Ask youself if any of these are the case. My guess is that your drainage is not so good, and the roots are sitting in water. The way the watering should work is that you water this plant about every other day, and you wait for the water to drip out the bottom drains before stopping. This will assure that the salt build up from the plant will be flushed out, as often as you water.

With indoor roses, bugs may affect it – look for signs. If there are bugs – treat for them with the Bayer products for roses – spray outside, bring back in. Fertilize also with the Bayer product for roses, they are granuals – and they work really good. Follow all label instructions.
