My roses have very little leaves. I get flowers to bloom but not alot of foilage?

Question by Ken O: My roses have very little leaves. I get flowers to bloom but not alot of foilage?
I live in central Florida and have both Knock-off and Vintage. I have tried various types and combinations of Fertilizer and right now I use a mixture of Bone meal, Epsom Salt, Miracle Grow. I water well and they have good drainage (live in Fla) the bed is raised with a compost/ Garden soil mixture turned into the natural bed. I have the bed covered with Cyprus mulch. So what gives…I get blooms but the leaves are very few!

Hmmm, it sounds like you’re doing everything right. Of course, most people would be overjoyed by having a lot of flowers, but I can understand your concern about not having a lot of foliage. The only thing I could suggest is that you use something with high nitrogen. Blood meal is pure nitrogen (plus organic), so you might try mixing that into your soil. The only caveat–dogs and other “meat-lovers” are attracted to the blood smell, so that might present a problem.

Good luck and I hope this information helps.
