The roses on my rose bush dried up, even the new buds, is it not getting enough water?

Question by vash sunglasses ~Catholic~: The roses on my rose bush dried up, even the new buds, is it not getting enough water?
My Grandma says it’s because we’re watering too much, but I think that’s totally wrong. Why would roses dry up if they were over-watered?

Anyway, we’ve been watering it every day and letting the soil drain really well (it’s potted).
Anyway, we live in Arizona where the humidity is in the low teens most of the year and the sun burns plants brutally if you leave them out too long. We water them in the morning and put the pots out in the direct sun for several hours each day.

Roses can dry up if they are over watered from lack of oxygen to the roots or if root rot has set in. Any blooming plant that is stressed will dry up and drop blossoms first as a survival reaction. Roses need at least six hours a day of direct sunlight to do well, but in your climate you should try to expose them to morning sun, not the hot afternoon.
