Question by marleyfu: What early Spring care should I give my Mr. Lincoln rose?
I only have one rose plant, the Mr. Lincoln. I am not an experienced rose gardener, and a little bit lazy I’m afraid. Still, I am happy to make the effort to help this beautiful plant.
The rose is planted facing southwest a few miles south of Lake Erie near Cleveland.

The bush needs to be pruned back by 1/3 aboout 3 weeks before your average last frost date. Fertilize with granular fertilizer for roses. Spray to prevent blackspot/mildew/rust. Check your library for books on roses from Ortho or Sunset—they will have all the basics you need to know.
