White Dust on Climbing Roses?

Question by srmc_007: White Dust on Climbing Roses?
I have some small climbing roses in front on my home that seem to be gather a white type of dust making them wilt. It doesnt seems to be affecting any hybrid teas located next to them. This rose is pink with many very small blooms, and my neighbor says it has been there for years and may be an heirloom rose not really sure. Anyone know what this may be?

Good chance it’s a fungus. If you have access to a low power microscope (like a stereo scope), I suggest that you look at it with that.

You can worry about it or not. Apparently, it hasn’t really hurt the roses, but they may do better without it. A local nursery may be able to help (but please don’t take a sample to show them unless it is sealed in a plastic bag).
